D stands for discreet

D stands for discreet – all models are designed as installation speakers for discreet in-wall or in-ceiling integration, featuring a wall-fixing mechanism with mounting legs. All models also come with their own loudspeaker enclosure, making system planning and the actual installation as easy as possible, with no after-market backbox or closed wall cavity required. This also ensures that the sound performance is always defined and consistent, depending less on the wall construction and the available space behind the wall.

High power handling, sensitivity, SPL

The D-60 has been designed as a high-performance in-wall speaker to be used for front channels with additional woofers as well as for surround channels. It offers the Discreet series’ highest power handling, sensitivity, and achievable sound pressure level. The D-60 covers frequencies from 22 kHz down to 80 Hz (-3dB) and is intended to be used with additional woofers for the LFE and bass, for example the Lyngdorf BW-20 or DW-1. The D-60 is the ideal choice for high-performance home cinemas and larger rooms, as well as for completing the outstanding Lyngdorf LS-1000 line source speakers with surround speakers on a similar performance level.

Powerful soft-dome tweeter and new midrange driver

The D-60 is equipped with a more powerful soft dome tweeter compared to the D-500 in-wall speaker, featuring a much stronger magnet. The two 18cm / 7-inch aluminium midrange drivers are equipped with vented magnets and vented die-cast baskets, while the inverted surround allows a flat speaker front and space-saving cabinet depth. With the D-60, one no longer has to choose between high-performance and a discreet physical presence.

Pre-mounted loudspeaker enclosure

The D-60 comes with its own pre-mounted loudspeaker enclosure, so that no after-market backbox or closed wall cavity is required. This ensures that the sound performance is always defined and consistent, depending less on the wall construction and the available space behind the wall. The enclosure is made from high quality MDF, increasing rigidity and preventing material resonance.

"The tweeter is placed right in the middle between the two midrange drivers. This results in a focused sound, meaning less sound energy above and below axis for less ceiling and floor reflections. Such a symmetrical sound dispersion is ideal in a cinema. Additionally, the tweeter plate is not flat, but has a rounded, recessed shape, a so-called horn loading. It increases the efficiency further and also leads to very good sound dispersion."
