Sound Wave icon

The LS series is the number one choice for larger rooms and spaces with rows of elevated seats

The series features an innovative line source approach, incorporating floor-to-ceiling stackable speakers and boundary woofers. This allows sound to propagate over long distances, thus ensuring tonal consistency by reducing echoes, especially in large rooms. Line source technology means that every seat in the listening space has the same volume level and offers the same sound experience, from the front to the rear of the room.

FLOOR-STANDING SPEAKERS

The in-room LS speakers blend the dipole technology first introduced in the flagship Model D with the innovative line source technology from the LS. At over 8 and 6.5 feet tall (approx. 2 and 2.4 meters respectively), the open baffle LS speakers are for very large rooms where a sound system must sound – and look – impressive. The series consists of two full range floor-standing dipole speakers, the LS Concert and LS Studio, which emit sound from both front and back.

THE BEST SOLUTION FOR EVEN SOUND ACROSS THE ROOM: LINE SOURCE

The LS speaker is a very tall and slim loudspeaker, for a reason: This is a line source with several tweeters and midrange drivers arranged in a tall vertical line. This gives a very even and consistent sound radiation into the room, with less sound energy directed towards the ceiling and floor, and provides a high-efficiency design with similar high volume levels across the room. The result is a more consistent sound experience on every seat and every row.

Combining digital amplification technology with digital processing in Steinway & Sons stereo and surround sound processors and patented Steinway Link technology ensures a high-resolution, energy-efficient and lossless transmission path for the purest possible sound

OTHER CORE BRAND TECHNOLOGIES

REMARKABLY SLIM DIPOLE DESIGN

The LS speaker is a dipole design with the tweeters and midrange drivers mounted in an extremely rigid, open aluminium frame, exiting the sound in the room like an instrument would. An open dipole speaker is free from the sound colourations of conventional speaker cabinets and also makes a striking design statement in the room, from all angles around the loudspeaker. The gold- or chrome-plated details, high-quality-lacquered side panels and the elegant black strings give the LS its unmistakable Steinway & Sons appearance.

ADVANCED TWEETER LINE-ARRAY

The LS speakers use the company’s own Air Motion Transformer tweeters in a line array, achieving a completely clear, distortion-free performance even at the highest volume levels. The Air Motion Transformer comprises of an ultra-thin, folded Kapton diaphragm between extremely powerful neodymium magnets. Compared to conventional soft dome tweeters, this tweeter design provides a much larger yet also much lighter diaphragm area to reproduce the highest frequencies and highest volume levels effortlessly.
